Child malnutrition rates are skyrocketing in South Sudan. In his latest piece published in The Huffington Post, MSF Executive Director Stephen Cornish asks if this was a preventable crisis. At the time of its creation, South Sudan was still crippled by poverty, disease and violence. Less than a year after independence, the countrys inflation rate was a shocking 80%, pricing subsistence beyond the means of many of its people. With food expensive and in short supply, worries about potential malnutrition spread.
