China Chinese authorities accused former head of GlaxoSmithKline in the country for bribing. Specifically , Chinese police said it holds evidence to confirm that the British pharmaceutical company proceeded in bribing doctors and public officials to massive scale. The investigation began last July and its findings are now delivered to the prosecuting authorities , which are almost certain to follow the recommendations of the police. According to the findings of the police investigation , the former head of GlaxoSmithKline in China , Mark Reilly, was the one to instruct employees to bribe Chinese officials . The trial is expected to begin in the coming months . Two weeks ago , GlaxoSmithKline, during the announcement of quarterly results revealed that the ongoing research in China has made an impact on sales of pharmaceuticals widely in emerging markets . Particularly in China , sales in the first quarter fell by a fifth , to 137 million pounds .
