China: Housing Prices Fall, Again Chinese housing prices fell for a second straight month in October, Financial Times reported Nov. 18. The fall makes the annual drop the steepest since the data began being recorded in 2011, but the monthly drop of 0.8 percent is the smallest decline since June. Beijing has been working to avoid creating an even greater real estate bubble amid rising economic concerns. Israel: Militants Claim Responsibility For Attack Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine says it is behind the Nov. 18 attacks at a synagogue, AFP reported. In the attack, which was the deadliest in years, two Palestinians armed with a gun and axes burst into a synagogue in Jerusalem, killing four and wounding six before being shot dead. Palestinian Islamist group Hamas welcomed the attack, which it says was a response to the murder of a Palestinian bus driver earlier this week. Police said the driver had committed suicide, but family members and a Palestinian pathologist said the mans body showed signs of violence. Israel and Gaza, a Palestinian territory, are currently observing a fragile cease-fire. Indonesia: New Fuel Prices In Effect Indonesias new price for subsidized premium gasoline is $0.69 per liter, up from $0.53 a liter, Indonesian President Joko Jokowi Widodo said, The Jakarta Post reported. The new prices came in effect Nov. 18, a day after Jokowi announced them. Diesel prices also rose from $0.45 per liter to $0.62 a liter. According to Jokowi, the increased revenue will help fund social programs that will ensure the buying power of low-income families. Pakistan: Taliban Splinter Group Supports Islamic State Jundullah, a splinter group of the Pakistani Taliban, has pledged its support to the Islamic State, a spokesman said Nov. 17, Reuters reported. So far the Islamic State has attracted the support of sectarian groups rather than anti-state militants such as the Taliban. Last month, a video depicted five Pakistani Taliban leaders pledging their support for the Islamic State. The group also has ties to Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, another Pakistani militant group.
