China runs into a tourism dilemma Chinese #tourism industry is trapped in a dilemma. The number of tourists visiting China dropped in 2014 with no signs of a potential pickup in the next 3 years. In addition, Chinese travelers leaving for other destinations are projected to grow by 10 million each year for the next 10 years. This result is supported by a global tourism survey conducted by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). Researchers spent four months questioning travelers across 23 countries and regions, covering 90% of the country’s overseas client markets. China received 62 million visitors in the first six months of 2014, a 2.8 percent on-year drop. This downtrend reportedly began in 2011. Chinese tourists made 9.03% of all global inbound trips between 2008 and 2013, but the country only received 2.42% of inbound visitors from overseas during that same period. Experts say #China should launch more online #marketing campaigns in order to drive the sector’s growth. Chinese tourists, on the other hand, are growing stronger than ever. Official statistics from the United Nations show that China has become the largest international tourism spender. Many countries are taking additional measures to attract Chinese tourists.
