Chinamasa leaves for Ethiopia: Justice and Legal Affairs Minister, Patrick Chinamasa has left for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he is expected to brief the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council (PSC) on the country’s preparations for the harmonised elections to be held on the 31st of this month. The PSC meeting, which will be held at the AU headquarters on Friday, will also hear reports on the progress of election preparations in Madagascar, Mali and Togo. The mission by Minister Chinamasa to Addis Ababa comes against the backdrop of remarks by President Robert Mugabe that the MDC formations are trying all tricks in the book to delay the holding of the harmonised elections. President Mugabe told thousands of Zanu PF supporters at a rally outside Rudhaka Stadium in Marondera on Monday that MDC leader, Professor Welshman Ncube appealed to the AU to intervene in the issue which has seen the Constitutional Court sitting twice to examine the matter and has upheld its earlier decision that polls be held on the 31st of this month. President Mugabe did not mention anything about a summit as claimed by some sections of the local private media. Cde Mugabe on Wednesday told guests at King Letsie III’s 50th birthday celebrations in Lesotho that preparations for elections are going on smoothly and that several observer missions are already on the ground.
