Chokobel introduced this season three new members to its chocolate family. It all started when one of our Moroccan customer Said came to us and said,I have some dates. Can you do something special for me for Ramadan with them? I want to gift my family and friends. We agreed to create a new flavour and Date with your chocolate was born. Juicy date puree in thin dark chocolate shells was a success. Motivated by its success, we were toying with the idea of creating some more flavors. L.Nitin Chordia, the well known foodie and founder of Chocolate tasting club of chennai walked into our shop one afternoon. He had just returned from his15 day long Belgian chocolate tour and was sharing his experience. What he told us got us thinking. He said, Sudha, so far as the chocolates are concerened, you are already right there with them. But they have such variety of off beat flavours- I have not found anywhere in India so far. This very clearly substantiates what Sense for Taste co founder Bernard Lahousse, once said, People want to be surprised BleuChok and Hunny Hunt were born. The flavour pairing theory asserts that food that share important flavour compounds are likely to make good pair. It appears that Chocolate and Blue cheese share 73 flavouring compounds together. We created the blue cheese truffle with extra thin crust in 70% dark chocolate. We created an experimental batch of 5 truffles. The result was explosive. The sharp and tangy flavour of the cheese came in too quickly and lingered longer because of the thin crust and the chocolate taste and flavour were both lost. After some brainstorming, we decided to thicken the outer crust. The result was sensational. If washed down with Red wine, the result would have been even more magical. But chennai being chennai, we used black coffee instead- which also went very well with the combo. Hunny Hunt (inspired by Winnie the Pooh) are dark chocolate shells filled with Honey Mousse. Our Hunny Hunt doesnot contain egg in any form. Chokobel has launched a new product Choco Love premium quality Hazelnut spread with pure Belgian couverture chocolate. A 200g jar is reasonably priced at Rs299 MRP.
