Chris Daniel Clark asked me - How would you bring us out of poverty? I answered him - First of all, freeing up the more than half of our budget from defense spending would free up all that money for creating jobs, and building a resource-based economy, where communities would be self-sustaining, growing and trading their own food and commodities. We must develop local resource-based economies, and end the paper speculation of Wall Street and the big banks. If we do not immediately eliminate the interest-based economy (which is a false economy that is not based upon true value but upon speculation and falsely arrived-at values), we must make that economy redundant, and phase it out, by making our resource-based, barter-style local economies the way that we all do business. We thereby eliminate the middle man who robs us by using interest rates, and return to an authentic means of exchange, by trading within communities and with neighboring communities. Decentralization is the key. With our current technology, the smallest town or even a household can become a hub of industry or a center of progress. People can work, and work from home, and families can be families again. Each community can and should maintain and develop Community Gardens that can put folks to work, that can ensure a reliable and safe domestic food supply, and if gardens grow too much for their community, they can use the surplus for barter with other communities for other goods. That’s real Homeland Security. Communities can institute these garden projects and feed themselves. People can reclaim their local industries, abandoned by outsourcing, and rebuild their communities from within. Forget reliance upon the credit machine that only makes you poorer, and only makes you a slave to the banks. Remember, your bank accounts are only part of your true net worth. Each of us also owns a stake in more valuable assets: clean air, fresh water, national forests, the Internet, public universities, rich cultural traditions… Forget the lobbyist capital Washington. Let’s make our living rooms and town halls the places where decisions are made. We must make respect for others part of our domestic and foreign policy. We must make the world a place that works for everybody. And with the money we save by not investing over half our money in the defense industry, we can institute a guaranteed minimum wage for all. How about a guaranteed annual wage for everybody? Unemployment is used to generate Fear and to drive down Wages. No person need be unemployed anymore. Just by being a citizen, and demonstrating productivity to your society or community, you should be guaranteed an annual wage. Then you can work within your community at what you do best, rebuilding our infrastructure from within, and secure in knowing you have a wage and a roof over your head, because every citizen should be guaranteed a home, and we can build those with what we save from investing in war. United we stand, United we fall! Hey, we’re the United States, aren’t we? https://facebook/photo.php?fbid=581459758586745&set=a.438112922921430.112434.438108642921858&type=1&relevant_count=1
