“Christian Suffering” (1 Peter 4:12-19) “We need to have a right knowledge about Christian sufferings because if we don’t the enemy will give us lies and we will be defeated. In our study today found in the First Letter of Peter the fourth chapter and verses twelve to nineteen, Peter explain how Christians suffers but not what many people think. “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christs sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And if the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner? Therefore let those who suffer according to Gods will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.” We see here how Apostle Peter said when, not if, fiery trials will come upon us. In other words fiery trial will surely come when we become Christian because the bible says so. And he told us that we must rejoice when these trials comes because we become partakers of Christ suffering. We need to understand that Jesus did not suffer in sickness and in poverty, but by persecution especially to the religious leaders. Sinabi rin ni Hesus sa Gospel na tayo na Kanyang mga alagad ay dadanas ng mga pagsubok alang-alang sa Kanya at sa Ebangelio. Nakita rin natin sa itinuro Niyang talinhaga ng isang maghahasik o parable of the Sower kung papaano dumating ang kaaway at mga pagsubok para lamang sirain ang Salita ng Diyos na naitanim sa puso ng mga tao. Satan is really after the Word of God planted into our hearts because he knew that when that Word grow and produce fruits we will become one of the most dangerous enemy to him. Kaya tayo ay makakaranas ng maapoy na pagsubok dahil sa Ebangelio, sa Kanya at dahil sa Salita ng Diyos na nakatanim sa ating mga puso. Tandaan natin na di tayo susubukin sa pamamagitan ng sakit at kahirapan. Ang Christian suffering ay hindi sa sakit at karamdaman o kahirapan man bagkus magsu-suffer tayo alang-alang sa ating pananampalataya. Tandaan natin na ang sakit at karamdaman o ang kahirapan man ay tinapos na ni Hesus sa Kanyang kamatayan at muling pagkabuhay. Kaya hindi tayo dapat na mag suffer pa ditto dahil Siya na mismo ang nag suffer para sa atin. Kapag tayo daw ay ina-alipusta at ini-insulto tayo ay pinagpala dahil ang Spiritu ng kaluwalhatian at ang Diyos ay nasa sa atin. Huwag tayong mag suffer bilang mga mamatay tao, o magnanakaw o isang taong gumagawa ng kasamaan. At kapag tayo ay nagsu-suffer bilang mga Kristiyano ay huwag daw tayong mahiya bagkus luwalhatiin natin ang Diyos sa ating mga buhay.”
