Christian worship - Resting in the Lord --------------------------------------------- Sunday, the first day of the week is reserved by Christians as the day to worship the Lord, the day for thanksgiving. Unfortunately our Sundays at Church also has become a day of very hectic activity, of too much stuff to do - whether its singing in worship, or helping at the altar or Sunday School or food or something after - it has turned into a day of hyper-activity. Our Sundays must be a day of rest - where we are at peace - peace in the Lord, peace in the Church, peace in the proximity of the altar. We must be able to come to the Church to rest in the Lord. Holy Qurbana should become a time for peace, where we can participate in the heavenly bliss that fills the Church as the Sacrament happens. Whether we participate in the songs, or serve at the altar, or in Sunday School or whatever we do, we must always have the goal to be at peace - to be at rest - then everything will fall in place, everything will be seen in context -when we are at peace - only then will we be able to transmit the peace. When we experience the joy of the Holy Qurbana, only then will the joy be apparent to those whom we touch in our lives. Learn from the honey bee that is seen busiest when flying around and is in total unrest - till it comes and settles down on a flower, and then see how calm and focused and relieved it is as it sucks the nectar from the flower and experiences peace - so must we be - as we wander around in our life and are in constant unrest, till we come to rest on Sunday with the Lord in the Church. Ref: A sermon heard some time ago from Rev. Fr. Bijesh Philip, Principal, Nagpur Seminary.
