Christmas Card to Rabbit Pottinger fm Bynda, December 24, 1906. My Granddaddy Butler Remey Pottinger II was called Rabbit when he was an engineer on the L&N Railroad (Corbin to Louisville run and back) from 1897 to 1911. He was called this because he was so fast with about 20+ young girls (who wrote post cards to him) from Corbin, New Haven Louisville and stops in-between Louisville and Corbin... so fast that they couldnt catch him for marriage. (In his diary he list the names and addresses of 20 young ladies he took out for carriage rides, to parties, etc). After leaving L&N, he went back to Gethsemane to help his Mother, Mary Ann Mollie Pottinger and in 1917 met my Grandma (Lula Elliott Morgan) and she caught him and they were married on March 9, 1918. (He was 39 and she was 21). He was 40 when their first child, my Mother, Ruby Aline Pottinger (Reynolds) was born and 51 when their last child was born.
