Christmas Eve is when we gather together in Finland, have dinner - TopicsExpress

Christmas Eve is when we gather together in Finland, have dinner and open presents. There is nothing quite like Christmas Eve in snowy Finland. 24 years ago I was 7 years old and we had just lost our house in a house fire. One of the policemen who delivered us the news while we were on our way to Lapland in Northern Finland, asked my dad if he had a lot of valuable art in the house. Dad got very serious and said: We had so much valuable art in the house. The policeman shook his head and mumbled how sorry he is. Then dad said something that is the symbol of our survival to me still to this date: Luckily all the artists are sitting in the back of the car. My parents, my five siblings and I, all survived, we were alive, and for that I am very grateful. Had we left a couple of hours later for our trip we would have all been sleeping in the house when the fire started and destroyed everything. Thinking about my family. Here is a Swedish version of my favorite Christmas song. Merry Christmas from my family to yours.
