Christmas day is about honoring and celebrating the birth of Jesus - TopicsExpress

Christmas day is about honoring and celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, and its about love and the spirit of giving. John 3:16-18 16.) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17.) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18.) He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Jesus birth, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension are the greatest gifts of love and hope ever bestowed on the world by God and humanity since God created us. I wonder how many of us if asked by God to bear a child with the knowledge that their child would suffer great pain and be sacrificed to save all of humanity would actually do it? Which for me, the greatest personal act of love by Jesus in the Bible is when he forgives His persecutors in Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. I remember the first time I read that passage and understood it. At that time I couldnt even fathom that level of forgiveness. Now, even though I can fathom the unconditional love (forgiving AND forgetting) required to forgive others as Jesus did. I fail at giving that type of unconditional love and forgiveness to others myself even though God and others have given that level of forgiveness to me. My hope though is that one day I will be able to achieve that. Any material gift that someone has ever given me or may give me, be it worth a million dollars or only one red cent, isnt really the gift. The real gift for me is the love behind the spirit of giving the gift. Because over time all material things will eventually crumble and disintegrate.....but love is eternal. The love from God, my family, and my friends is the best gift I have received this Christmas.....thank you. ...if no one has told you they love you today, I love you and Merry Christmas
