Christmas in New York, Video No. 21 Were going back to Sixth Avenue in this video. The second video I posted featured the red ornaments in front of the Chase building. In this video, we start at the Bank of America building at 42nd Street and Avenue of the Americas and head uptown, visiting the decorations at News Corp., 20th Century Fox, McGraw-Hill, Fidelity, Radio City Music Hall, and the Hilton. There is also a Coca-Cola truck parked on Sixth Avenue with a sidewalk Santa. (I did not sit on his lap.) If Fifth Avenues decorations are over-the-top monuments to glitter and consumerism, Corporate America on Sixth Avenue gives us very, very large, sterile, secular-to-the-extreme decorations. Lets be huge and try not to offend anyone. Though Chases very large balls and McGraw-Hills very large phallic LED lights might combine to form a big-business holiday homage to corporate male domination ... I maintain that the best decorations on Sixth Avenue, though, are the birds at 49th Street that still manage to keep going despite not being in the best place to get good food (for a bird, or a person, for that matter). One of my friends is bringing mealy worms to the thrasher and wood thrush, which apparently they appreciate very much.
