Christmas is just around the corner and our families get together - TopicsExpress

Christmas is just around the corner and our families get together are just about to begin... I have no extended family close by, just my children. They spend some time with me and then go off to their father and relatives. They are never included in my partners family dos. It does hurt, but my boys dont care, they really love being with their relatives. Being with my partner relatives - brothers, sisters, etc its fine, they are welcoming and fun to be with, but his children is a different story altogether. What comes to mind is a sense of dread. I depend on their choices, their schedules, their mood, and none of them has ever has asked my onion, I fell like I am a very heavy broken suitcase that will have to be carried around in a long trip, and also my home is no longer mine I am just a visitor/cleaning lady. Apart from all that I have to sit and listen to endless visits to their memories of mum and dads intimate moments or about all the great times they used to have as a family. I just sit there listening, looking like a stoned mullet. Then there are the grandchildren who walk in and out of the house without greeting or pay any attention to my existence. I remember this one time in which the oldest walked in pointed at his hand at me pretending to shoot a gun, making noises and all, or the times they refer to me as not being family. Oh it just makes me feel like I have no home. For putting up with all that and rarely loosing my class I congratulate myself and wish myself a Merry Christmas. For those who feel Christmas is just a day you want to get over and done with, Merry Christmas too... And for those whose families really embrace the spirit of Christmas and share quality time together I wish more than a Merry Christmas, I wish the family bond you share will last forever and that one day I have it too. Merry Christmas to all my family and friends
