Christmas is traditionally a time for rejoicing and happiness. Unfortunately, the latter part of this year has not brought a lot of joy and happiness in the world. There has been continuing famine, disease, warfare, attacks on innocent people and global financial problems. This could perhaps be the time to promote a better understanding of different cultures and religions, so that we can think and speak alike in the face of adversity. Let us pray for divine strength, so that we may unite against the supporters of all that is evil, for it is they who plunge our society into hatred and strife. Let us pray that we may have the will to select between right and wrong, so that peace and happiness can prevail. Let us follow the path of righteousness, because that is the best of all that is good. Let us during this season of goodwill promise ourselves to do more for the needy, help the aged, share our friendship so that we can become good neighbours, find a common link that binds different religions, show unity against violence, and create a feeling of tolerance in a multicultural society... I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a very prosperous New Year.
