Chuck Coletta writes: The power to govern was given to the Congress to avoid our republic from evolving into a dictatorship or a monarchy. ********* Actually, even back in the 1700s, at the time our Constitution was written, in Great Britain, most of the governing power resided with parliament and it was a long established monarchy. Despite this, the blame for most of the ills of society was placed on the king, just as today, in this country, we place blame squarely on the president. It is much easier to focus blame on one individual or leader.
