Chug chug chug... I always love the sound of low strings as they - TopicsExpress

Chug chug chug... I always love the sound of low strings as they really dig in to the notes. Yet, the brass, winds and choral textures contrast to these rough celli and bass sounds to create a sun-like glow through the mist--life itself. When I orchestrate, especially with virtual instruments, I try to do things you dont normally hear with a live orchestra. This sort of rough pulsing in the strings is not really practical with a live ensemble. The relative power levels of real acoustics require a great array of microphone placement and isolation. And why the strange meter? Why not? Life is unpredictable that way. But thats what this piece is about... its the infinite and varying story of the beauty of life in the midst of a constant struggle. And of course, the chug of the low strings represents the deep willpower that we all can summon as we move forward, together.
