Ciao a tutti, Cappelletti Medicee are two structures at the Basilica di San Lorenzo dating from the 16th century, and built as extensions to Brunelleschis 15th century church. The Segrestia Nuova was designed by Michelangelo, it was the first essay in architecture (1521-24) of Michelangelo, who also designed its monuments dedicated to certain members of the Medici family. Museo di Orsanmichele In the Trecento each guild had been assigned the task of filling one of the niches on the exterior of a building with a freestanding statue of its patron saint. By the early fifteenth-century only three of the fourteen guilds had completed their niches. In 1406 the Signoria or governors of Florence, impatient to complete the project, declared that the guilds must fill their niches within a ten year period. Last night in the beautiful space surrounded by the original statures made for each guild we attended a Concerti Strumentali e Serate dOpera, were the evening of Sestetto DArchi di Toscana Classica featuring F. Schubert and Brahms.
