Ciao tutti!! Im Erica, in case I havent met you, and Im a recent (Will) Rice alum serving with Cru in Bologna and Milan. Michael Sam Jr. posted about Summer Missions recently, and I wanted to let yall know that I will be involved with the Red River trip to Italy. Italy is a land full of pasta, gelato, and (really) attractive people. But, its also a land with a painful church history that has caused people to reject religion. Italian culture has told an incomplete gospel, and people do not know God because of it. Over the years, this has led to a disappearing presence of Christ. In Milan, I asked a student where a peer could go if they wanted to learn more about faith. The student responded, I dont know. The Internet, perhaps? In other words, even IF a student was spiritually interested, they would have no resources openly, publically, or readily available to them on campus to explore. Imagine stepping onto Rices campus without even ONE student ministry. No Cru, Navs, Chi Alpha, RUF, BSM, etc etc etc. How would your college experience be different? How would your relationship with God be different? This is the reality here in Italy, and I am inviting yall to be a part of changing this!
