Cindy Sheehan Sorry for Long Injustice against Cuban Five Havana, Jun 6.- US pacifist Cindy Sheehan was sorry that after almost 16 years of the arrest of five Cuban patriotic fighters in Miami, Florida, the US government still does not give a humanitarian solution to their case. I love the Cuban Five, I love their families. I am very sorry for the injustice they have had to suffer for more than 15 years, Sheehan said in an electronic conversartion with Prensa Latina Friday, shortly after travelling to Washington DC, where she will take part in the 3rd Five Days for the Cuban Five Day. For this lady, whose son Casey was sent to Iraq as a soldier by the US Pentagon, and lost his life on April 4, 2004, the work with the poublic opinion must be intensified, just for the people to know why Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez went to the US. Being aware that these men fufilled the mission from Florida to avoid deaths not only for Cubans but also Americans, Sheehan said that all the members of The Cuban Five must be released so that they can return to their homes. President Barack Obama could release Hernandez, Labañino and Guerrero, the three still remaining in prison, if he would like to, since only Fernando and René González are in their homeland, but after a purge of all of their penalties. Sheehan suggested that the US President considers an exchange with Alan Gross, a subcontractor of the United States Agency for international Development (Usaid) arrested and sentenced to 15 years, when he tried to install a telecommunications network illegal on the island for subversive purposes in Cuba. She said that she has visited Cuba and we know how wonderful that its people is, something which in her view, should be taught to the citizens of her country to counterarrest such propaganda agains the Caribbean nation. According to the program of the 3rd Five Days for the Cuban Five, organized by the International Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban Five, Sheehan will speak at the closing ceremony of a conference called A New Age in the United States-Cuba Relations. In the event in Washington, there will be lawyers, writers, peace activists, trade union leaders, parlimentary deputies and friends of the cause of Cuba and the Cuban Five. Preliminary data said more than 250 people met in Washington, among other personalities, tro represent 30 countries of the world. (Prensa Latina)
