City Of Lawrenceburg To Purchase SunTrust Building - TopicsExpress

City Of Lawrenceburg To Purchase SunTrust Building Lawrenceburg leaders have voted to move forward with the purchase of the SunTrust Bank building on the Public Square for the relocation of the city’s administrative headquarters. The resolution was approved during a meeting of the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Commissioners Thursday morning. It allows Mayor Keith Durham to execute the purchase and sale agreement on behalf of the city. The city will purchase the building, located at 25 Public Square, as well as all real and personal property, at a cost of $700,000. Funding for the purchase is to be included in the 2013 bond issuance. Durham said that plans are to move all of the city’s administrative offices to the building. Space will also be available for offices of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce and Lawrenceburg Utility Systems. Durham said that the purchase will allow them to double the size of the James D. Vaughn Museum as well as provide a permanent home. Once offices are vacated at the current administration building, plans are to move administrative offices of the Lawrenceburg Police Department to that side of the structure. Administrative offices of the Lawrenceburg Fire Department would then be moved into the current police department offices, freeing space to allow for the expansion of one bay to accommodate a new fire truck. Durham said the series of moves will result in more efficient operations overall. He said that although there are many details yet to be hammered out, “I’m excited about the move.”
