City of Austin tried to make most apartments accept Section 8 Vouchers but the Austin Apartment Association is actually suing the City claiming the Section 8 program has too many problems, takes too much time, ect. Housing for people with low incomes is extremely difficult to find. There is still a shortage of Section 8 Housing after that program just restarted after being closed since 2006. I believe that the Section 8 program should be able to help more people and not have to close for years at a time - and yes make it possible to get an apartment or house. People that would benefit from the Citys program includes people on SSI and SSDI - Veterans, Disabled, and very low income. — in Austin, Texas.
