Under direction, operates motor-driven street sweepers on assigned routes, which include streets, alleys, parking lots, and other paved surfaces; reads and follows route sheet and follows operating procedures for street sweepers; EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Under direction, operates motor-driven street sweepers on assigned routes, which include streets, alleys, parking lots, and other paved surfaces; reads and follows route sheet and follows operating procedures for street sweepers; uses radio to communicate route progress, and to coordinate progress with Parking Control Checkers and debris-receiving dump-truck drivers; manually removes obstructions, such as palm fronds, automobile parts, and broken curbing during course of route; dumps load of sweeping debris onto trucks or into containers; maintains sweepers by making minor repairs and adjustments as necessary; conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections: including checking fluid levels, tire pressures, lights, and windshield wipers; lubricates sweepers before each shift, and washes and services equipment after each shift; reports unusual or hazardous conditions; may operate debris-receiving vehicles and debris-handling equipment as necessary; and performs other related duties as required. REQUIREMENTS TO FILE: · A current valid Class A or B motor vehicle operator’s license. (proof required)* · Experience or training in the operation and routine maintenance of mechanical and/or vacuum street sweepers. · Ability to safely operate a motor sweeper and to follow route instructions. · Proof of a current DMV driving record, is required at time of appointment and must be presented to the hiring department at the time of the selection interview. · Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays and overtime. May work a rotating shift and/or a 10-hour day/4-day week schedule. *Proof of required documents must be uploaded to the online application or included with a paper application at time of filing. SELECTION PROCEDURE: Screening of candidates will be conducted on the basis of applications submitted.
