Clacton post office today. Old Woman in front of me speaking to another old woman: All these people in this town just sit on their backsides and let other people pay for everything, their rent, council tax and get big lump sums and then spend it on tattoos, they get everything for nothing, they are all scum. Me: Some people are disabled you know, they have no choice Woman: Well thats different, but you see all these lay about around this town and they do nothing. Me: Well, you see that guy out there (pointing to my other half), Doesnt look like there is anything wrong with him right, not in a wheelchair, no crutches or walking stick? WRONG, in a split second he could be on the floor fitting and fighting for his life. He used to work and bring home £1000 a week Woman: Ohh I am sure (said sarcastically) and what sort of job was that? Me: Letter press printing. And then some guy decided he was going to beat him over the head with a piece of wood and ever since he has had epilepsy Womans husband: Yes, printers do get a lot of money for what they do, very skilled job Woman: Oh I am sorry to hear that ... (pauses for a second) .... So why dont you work? Me: I am his full time carer, he needs someone with him 24/7 cause he could go down at any time and is a danger to himself and others when he fits . She suddenly went very quiet and apologetic. lol
