Clarification to the Answers of some ambiguous Questions asked in WBCS 2014 Prelims Exam. No.1. Cacophony means sound that is not melodious/ disagreeable sound. One the other hand ‘Music means sound that is melodious and acceptable/ so answer ‘Music’ No.2. Elude and delude: actually both are possibly related to the question. But elude means “escape from or avoid (a danger, enemy, or pursuer), typically in a skilful or cunning way”. So this word is perfectly apt to the sentence. No.3. Out of this 54 years, ruling Period of Bimbisar was from 540 BC- 493 BC (47 years) and ruling period of Ajatasatru was from 493 BC -486 BC (7 years). So nearest correct answer be Bimbisar No.5. As there is no such thing like ‘’ who was the FIRST maratha leader’’ in the question, so unequivocally Baji Rao I is the right answer. No.7. Though Rajmahal Hills is there – but there is no such thing as Rajmahal Plateau geographically No.10. Simon Commission boycotted by congress: here the understanding of the question is important. First-The emphasis is given on the word ‘ Congress’ – not on Indian. 2nd- Simon Com was formed to consider the claim of Indians- not to oppose. 3rd- Negated means rejected. There was no such determinant by Indians for own constitution that can be rejected by any authority. Just it was assumed by our leaders that our desire might be ignored in future. So there is no question of rejection where no such thing exists at all to reject. No.11. In 2013,the Dada sahib Phalke award was given to Gulzar. Don’t try to argue with the question. Take the the face value. This is simple way of writing which indicates award for the year 2013. It does not matter when it was given to No.12. Circular wire of radius 42 cm…… : actually the Problem is wrongly asked. Whateve, the total length of smaller sides is 120 cm which is in the option. As there is no clear expression such as “what is the length of smaller side” or what is breadth? “ ….. so we can consider total length of smaller side. And diction is quite clear in Bengali version. So answer should be 120. No.13. Khelafat wrong was there as one of the leading cause – but it was not ‘’immediate cause’’. No.15. A complete outcome of the Wavell Plan was ….. / Simla conference was conducted as per Wavell Plan. But can we say a conference as outcome of a Plan??? Again, the provision for framing an Indian Constitution was there though it was actually framed as per Cabinet Mission Plan.
