Classic American Breakfast - Had breakfast at Wiedemaiers truckstop in St. Jo. Whilst I was enjoying chicken-fried steak and eggs, several aged farmers were having their coffee meeting at the counter beside me. The late-comer sits at the end and greets them all, as the more respected older man says, Heard you got a new car?. Yeah, a new CR-V. Another fellow asks, Is that a Nissan?. Naw, Honda.. Respected one says, Is that made by Japs?? Naw, mostly here!. I had to smile cause my gramps probably wouldve asked the same question! It carried on into farm equipment; That 560 was the best tractor International ever made, I bought a gas tractor that year and shouldve bought a diesel., Burned 7 gallon an hour, dont you wish you had that now?!, That Gleaner (didnt catch model #) was the best piece of equipment I ever owned. But the bearings were weak. You were constantly replacing bearings. If you went to the store to get a new one, you knew youd better buy two! I stood and nodded, Gentlemen., and left twice the tip.
