Clean Eating Eight weeks ago today I started a life style - TopicsExpress

Clean Eating Eight weeks ago today I started a life style changing experiment in eating clean. Not a diet since the goal wasn’t specifically to lose weight but to see what effect eating clean would have on my training times and ultimately my race times. Having said that my weight dropped from 182.2 to 165.8. I also dropped 4 inches off my waist. What is significant about that is, although I exercise regularly I didn’t increase the amount of time or the distance I had been training at before when I weighed 182. I have not been hungry at all since I eat three good sized meals a day and usually have fruit a couple of times a day for snacks. My meals are all fresh fruit, fresh or frozen veggies and fresh, usually organic meat, if I can catch some marked down. I go to the market early after my workouts and they have usually got the meat that is within a few days of the ‘sell by date’, marked down. I stopped eating all bread and pasta. Not glutton free but avoiding wheat products. The weight loss did have a pattern to it, but I expected it to be more of a gradual drop each day. That wasn’t the way it worked at all. I would maintain the same weight for a few days to a week and then have a drop of 2 to 4 pounds. That is the way it stayed during the entire time. I weighed 3 times a day, first thing in the morning, at mid day and then in the evening. My weight stayed pretty much the same all during the day, so that tells me my body was utilizing the food I was eating efficiently. Training time improvements were more predictable than the weight loss. Each week I was a little better than the previous week. My mile time dropped almost a minute, my 4 mile about 3 minutes and my 7 mile time dropped about 5 and a half minutes. I train 3 days a week, mile intervals on Monday, 7 mile group training on Wednesday and 4 mile tempo walk on Friday. Then I have 2 Gym days and 2 rest days. I have kept that up all during this life style change. Result, I’m going to continue eating clean and unprocessed food from now on and hopefully see continued improvements. Thanks for reading.
