Clean Nairobi environment will attract investors, says Governor By Robert Etakwa Nairobi Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke has urged residents to maintain cleanliness in their neighbourhoods to attract investors. He said the city stood a better chance of tackling run away crime, unemployment and insecurity if it attracted more investors through cleanliness. He was speaking during a clean-up exercise in Makadara estate organized by the Agenda for Change Makadara Combination Youth Group (ACMCYG). Mueke said such exercises should be made regular to help unite the country and soften the politicians to break their hard tribal political lines for the sake of national development. The Nairobi County National Environmental Management Authority County Officer, William Ouko who was also present, said the management of waste and enforcement of by-laws related to the environment in the County was being hampered by lack of enough environmental management officers. He subsequently appealed to the government to hire more environment officers for the proper management of litter in the city. Ouko urged Kenyans to be responsible for waste management in their homes saying that each home needed to have dust bins for proper waste management. On her part, Makadara Sub-County officer, Margret Mbugua called on the youth to support the efforts of ACMCYG that trains youth on education, environment, and health sector with a view to empowering them to be self reliant and keep the environment clean.
