Clean and Free. July 7, 2013] “Know that you are clean now through the word that I have spoken to you. I have cleansed you and set you free from all that would make you feel dishonored or degraded. Yes, I have freed you and placed the banner of purity over your head.” Prophetic Scripture: Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow (Psalms 51:7). Israel used hyssop not only as a physical cleansing agent, but it represented spiritual cleansing. The night before Israel was delivered from Egypt, God instructed Moses to take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in lamb’s blood and wipe it over the doorframes of their houses (see Exod. 12:22). The hyssop that wiped blood over their homes was a sign of complete cleansing, and it placed a banner of purity over their lives. Later on when David asked God to cleanse him with hyssop, he would have remembered Israel’s deliverance from Egypt. He was asking for a complete cleansing from all the effects of sin and for a banner of purity to be placed over his life. Spiritually speaking, the blood of Jesus has been applied over the doorframe of your life with spiritual hyssop. The hyssop is the Word of God. In John 15:3, Jesus told His disciples that they were clean through the word He spoke to them. When the powerful truth of God regarding Jesus’ blood enters your heart, you become clean and free from the degradation that sin once placed upon you and the banner of purity is written over your life. Have peace that you are completely clean and free today! Prayer: Lord, I thank You that I am clean and free because of the blood of Jesus. I receive the Word of God concerning the cleansing power of the blood, and I know that my whole being is pure from all the effects of sin! Amen.
