‘Clerics coming forward in support of BJP’: Deobandh cleric Srinagar, Dec 3, CNS: A Deoband-based cleric Maulana Suhaib Qasmi is campaigning heavily for Bhartiya Janata Party in Kashmir Valley and is claiming that majority of the clerics here have extended their support in favour of the party. A native of Bijnore Uttar Pradesh, Qasmi is extensively touring almost every party of Kashmir valley to garner support for Modi led BJP candidates. Qasmi told Srinagar based news agency CNS that BJP in Kashmir is gathering support not only from masses, but from clerics as well. “ In Shopain, Davsar, Pattan, Batamaloo, Habakadal, Amirakadal, Uri and Budgam more and more clerics and coming forward extending support to BJP,” he said. Qasmi ruled out the stigma of Gujarat riots on Modi, claiming the court has given him a clean chit. “Narendra Bhai Modi is a pure hearted person who wanted to do something for the people of Kashmir. I have met clerics here and all support Modi Bhai. They want peace and development. The clerics who support BJP in Kashmir will surely come forward and declare their support for the party before the general public,” Qasmi said. “I have studied at Darul Uloom Deoband and have connections. Islamic clerics in Kashmir want change and are craving for development,” he said. Qasmi, who heads Jamaat Ulema-e-Hind which claims to have nearly 20,000 Muslim clerics as its members told CNS that BJP has successfully laid its foundation in Kashmir and in future this party will over shadow all other political parties. “You will not believe how in large numbers clerics and other people are coming forward in support of party. These people want an end to separatism here and yearn for peace and development,” he said. “There is no harm for people of Kashmir in trying BJP once. This party under the leadership of Modi Bhai will put a balm on the wounds of Kashmiri people. “When other clerics can change their support to different political parties in every election, there is no harm in supporting Modi. I have decided to support Modi and create a wide and strong mass base for BJP in Kashmir, Qasmi told CNS. Maulana Suhaib Qasmi revealed that Narendra Modi is going to make important announcements during his December 8 rally in Srinagar. “There are hundreds of innocent Kashmir people languishing in different jails of India and Jammu and Kashmir. Youth have been put behind the bars on charges of stone pelting. Modi Bhai will make an announcement in this regard during his rally,” Qasmi claimed and added that the Prime Minister of India will also touch ‘Kunanposh Pora’ mass rape episode in his rally. He said that amnesty to alleged stone-pelters and other prisoners are on cards. “We have already talked about these subjects with Modi Bhai and hopefully the Prime Minister would make important announcements in this regard with a clear intention to provide succor to the sufferers. It’s my firm belief and I expect from Modi Bhai that he will declare a blanket ban on liquor trade in Kashmir on December 8 public rally,” Qasmi claimed. Qasmi said that Modi Bhai knows it well that people of Kashmir have suffered badly both at the hands of anti- peace elements and state actors. “Trust me and mark my words, every high profile person who has inflicted cruelties on Kashmiri people will face the music and there will be strict instructions from the Prime Minister to go harsh on such people, whether they belong to civil, police or defense administration,” he said.
