Coffee Pot Blues: 1: Sunday afternoon, Nancy emits an angry sound from the kitchen (never a good thing). Upon inquiry, Burt learns she dropped a knife and took out the bottom of our trusty coffee pot. 2. Having learned that, How could you do something so dumb? is not a productive comment, Burt says, No big deal. 3. That evening, Burt is throwing together homemade blue cheese dressing, seared ginger, sesame, tuna, and salad. Final step, retrieve the whole wheat toast from the toaster oven. 4. As they begin to sup. and watch 60 Minutes, they hear a loud, electric, POP, or snap! 5. Glancing towards the toaster oven, they see the hand towel Burt used to pull out the rack is burning merrily, and consuming the plastic corner of the downstairs coffee pot which Nancy had just retrieved from the downstairs suite. The POP was the electric on switch. There was quite a scramble, but the kitchen was saved, sort of. 6. I shall leave to the imagination whether Nancy Goodfellow Hunter responded with a cheery, no problem, especially when she found Burt had burned a hole in her kitchen counter. 7. As I he headed to bed, Burt couldnt help humming Simon and Garfunkel, Tomorrows going to be another working day.......I wonder whats gone wrong? Sure enough, half way through another working day.
