Coke Studio Season 7 Episode 6: Review for each track shared below - catch the complete description by clicking the link below. Episode 6 is dominated by a soul-stirring performance by Usman Riaz hinting at the fact that lyrical enrichment is not a necessary factor. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is back after performing in the very first season of Coke Studio. Comment and mention your favorite track of Episode 6. Chhaap Tilak by Abida Parveen & Rahat Fateh Ali Khan: Chhaap Tilak is predominantly an eastern marriage oriented track; and to give Sufiana touch to this wholesome poetry is indeed a unique way of presenting it. Considering the romantic orientation of the kalam a more serene interpretation would have suited the track, as the vocal weight of both Abida Parveen and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan are not in-sync with the melodic poetry. This was one track to look forward to considering the potency of poetry by the Sufi Mystic Amir Khusro but the symphony and the vocal presentation was quite depressing in all. Yaad by Javed Bashir: Yaad brings to the floor many term as the blasphemous way of approaching music considering the encapsulation by a very secular form of poetry; the track predominantly hints at the precedence of worldly love over Divine, with time many justifications to cocoon carnal nature of Sufiana poetry with divinity have come forward but however you interpret it fundamentally Sufiana poetry is about a bond between hearts. Javed Bashir vocal presentation of this lyrical melody is brilliant as he is perfect combination of both Sufi and Folk forms. Instrumentally Strings have done a decent job with a toned down approach and letting the vocals flourish Jaana by Zoheb Hassan & Zoe Viccaji: Jaana an emotionally nostalgic track and the effect is multiplied significantly by putting images of Late Nazia Hassan in the background of the video. Zoheb Hassan finally redeeming himself on the platform of Coke Studio by giving an exceptionally sentimental vocal performance with brilliantly backed by Zoe Viccaji and Aamir Zaki. Vocally still is much required on the part of Zoheb Hassan but this track rather than focusing on the vocal prowess and technicalities was predominantly housed by emotions. Instrumentally the track had that memorable keyboard sequence and much of the symphony was retained from the original enhancing the nostalgic aspect.< Descent to the Ocean Floor by Usman Riaz: This is not music but a haunting experience that leaves your soul stirred in more ways than one. Initial burst of piano reflects the frenzy of life and then constant flow of rhythm and the String Section paints your life with a morbid brush, a pure reflection of uncertainties and sorrows of life. Coke Studio has gone where no musician has gone before.
