Coleraine Olympic U12 took on league champions Moyola in the Cup Semi final this morning. The game was evenly matched in the first half with chances at a premium. A defensive lapse let the Moyola forward in to score the games first goal . The Olympic didnt let this mishap deter them and created a wonderful chance for James Symington, but the keeper pulled off a superb one handed save . The boys continued to play all the football forcing the Moyola defence on to the backfoot. 1-0 halftime.Olympic started of the second half with a new formation and they played some enthralling football to the delight of the coaches and spectators and it wasnt long before Syms had another strike saved by the keeper . The boys with all of the possession scored a great team goal moving the ball down the pitch to Dan Brown who dispatched a left foot shot into the bottom corner . This was a reflection on the game and the boys went hunting for the leagues champions scalp and were unlucky on a number of occasions and this showed why Moyola are league champions as their keeper and defence stood firm. Then a punt up pitch and the Olympic midfield undecided, Moyolas forward took control and slotted the ball into the Olympic net. This was harsh on the boys who were playing all the football but they had one last chance through Dan but he pulled it wide. This was by far the best team performance by Coleraine Olympic showing the coaches how hard they have worked, listened and improved this year. This result was not what the performance deserved and the boys can be proud of the way they conducted themselves. They are a pleasure to coach and train. Good luck boys for the future.
