Collegeville CC lost to Delaware CC by 2 runs in a humdinger at Liberty Field! Batting first Delaware were bowled out for 212 runs in the 39th over with Waqas Shahid top scoring with 55 runs well supported by Omer 35, Huur 27 and Amir Rafique 22. For CCC Maaez Veqar took 3 wickets with Charles Mathew and Pramod Rao taking 2 wickets each. CCC started the innings with a bang with Girish Kale racing away to 22 off just 12 balls but were soon 49/5 in the 7th over, Hurr taking 3 big scalps of Girish, Sumeet and Pramod giving away only 3 runs. Devang Vasani and Maaez Veqar then shared a brilliant 100+ run partnership inching CCC closer to the target. Both were out for 46 runs at crucial times letting Delaware back in the game, Arvind Sharma then played a crucial innings of 33 runs at no 8 to get CCC 4 runs closer to the target but hoiked a full toss from Waqas to Umer Khan at mid wicket. Charles was unable to finish the game for CCC as Waqas foxed the big guy with a slower one which was brilliantly caught by Omer Raja at deep extra cover as CCC were bowled out for 210 in the 37th over. Brilliant seesaw game of cricket played in good spirits with both the teams and exceptional calm umpiring by Sugin Samuel. Disappointing loss for Collegeville after an improbable comeback by their middle order, missed catches and poor finishing cost the game....need to bounce back ASAP. GO CCC!!!
