Colorados Proposition 105, which would create a new system for labeling GMOs in stores, is problematic for the state and the nation. The system, which would be the first in the country to be separate from the national standard labeling system, would put pressure on consumers and producers alike. It would cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars to implement. Additionally, the new system would also serve to raise prices on all goods. This hurts consumers at the grocery store who are looking for affordable options, and it hurts the farmers and grocery stores because higher prices force consumers to purchase less of their products. Why would state officials support such a proposition? It benefits nobody. The systems complex requirements dont allow for proper information to be provided, when current labels already supply the proper information. Learn more about this situation at noon105/facts-105/
