Columbus Rural Fire District #3 Volunteer Coordinator Position Announcement Columbus Rural Fire District #3 (CRFD) is accepting applications for the position of Volunteer Coordinator. This position is open due the successful acquisition of a SAFER Grant from the Department of Homeland Security. The Volunteer Coordinator will report directly to the Fire Chief. Applicants must possess strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills, as well as proven integrity in working with volunteer organizations and the community. Columbus Fire Rescue (collectively the Columbus Rural Fire District #3 and the Town of Columbus Fire Department), located in Stillwater County in south central Montana, is a large, geographically‐diverse Rural Fire District. CRFD serves a municipal community of about 2,000 residents as well as a rural area of approximately 700 square miles and 6,500 residents with 50 volunteer and 5 career staff. CRFD provides structural and wildland fire protection, EMS, HAZMAT, and rescue within its jurisdiction. CRFD is the only ALS provider in the county and provides mutual aid to all other Fire and EMS agencies in the county. The salary range for this position is $15.50 to $17.00 per hour and is full time. This position includes excellent benefits including health insurance, retirement, and paid vacation and holidays. This position is currently funded for a period of three and a half years, with the possibility of further funding in the future. Preference will be shown to applicants who are post 911 War veterans whom meet the minimum requirements. Additional knowledge or skills in both EMS and Fire are preferred but not required to apply.
