Come November, if you are one of those people that think your vote - TopicsExpress

Come November, if you are one of those people that think your vote wont count in a midterm election, which historically have a lower voter turnout than elections during years when we elect our President, think about this, back in 2008 when U.S. Sens. Mark Begich (D-AK) and Al Franken (D-MN) won their first terms in the United States Senate, they won extremely close races. In fact, Sen. Franken won by some 300 votes and the race went to an automatic recount, in accordance with Minnesota state law, and then the election results were even contested by his Republican opponent, fmr. U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman. (R-MN) It was not until July, when the Minnesota Supreme Court ruled in Sen. Frankens favor, that Sen. Franken was finally seated. In the interim, between the time Colemans term expired on Jan. 3 and Sen. Franken was finally seated in July, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) was Minnesotas only United States Senator. More recently, in Nov. 2012, U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) won an extremely close race herself, a race she was not expected to win, by the estimation of most political analysts, and just this past week Virginia State Senate candidate Lynnwood Lewis (D-District 6, Norfolk) won his race by a mere 11 votes over his Republican opponent; this was also the defining race that gave Democrats control of the Virginia State Senate. Think about that for a moment, 11 votes got us a Democratic Senate in the Commonwealth of Virginia. If those 11 people, plus one, decided to stay home, rather than vote, Virginians would have been stuck w/ a Republican controlled State Senate. WHEN DEMOCRATS SHOW UP TO THE POLLS AND VOTE, DEMOCRATS WIN!!! THESE RACES PROVE THAT EVERY VOTE COUNTS! DONT EVER LET ANYONE TELL YOU THAT YOUR VOTE WONT MAKE A DIFFERENCE! STILL THINK YOUR VOTE WONT MAKE A DIFFERENCE???
