Come and join Welbeck Colliery Cricket Club for their annual Sporting Dinner at the John Fretwell Sports Complex. WCCC are pleased to confirm that our two guest speakers for the upcoming sporting dinner are: Former England Cricketer Graeme (Foxy) Fowler & Comedian Greg Cook Graeme (Foxy) Fowler Graeme “Foxy” Fowler is a former English cricketer, who played for Lancashire, England and later for Durham. He appeared in twenty one Test Matches and twenty six ODI’s for England. He made his Test debut in 1982, and is most noted for scoring 201 against India, in India. After leaving Lancashire, Fowler played for Durham and coached at their academy, setting up a Cricket School of Excellence in 1996. Among the players he coached was Andrew Strauss. Since 1987, he has been a cricket broadcaster, sometimes with Test Match Special, and also with Test Match Sofa and Sky Sports. He also holds the post of Senior Cricket Coach at Durham University. Graeme has been known throughout his career as an entertainer who has never shied away from airing his personal views and is sure to entertain us all with stories and tales about his life and times in sport. Greg Cook: Greg Cook’s deadpan style and mastery of the spoken word led John Plowman, head of BBC Comedy to describe him as ‘Les Dawson for the 21st century’. He abandoned a law degree after 2 years to devote more time to writing and performing comedy. ‘Law and comedy are essentially the same gig,’ says Greg, ‘telling lies for money. But this way I don’t have to wear a tie.’ Our Speakers will entertain us after an excellent 4 course dinner and live auction. It promises to be another great night at the John Fretwell Sports Complex. Ticket prices are £30 per person. Reserving your ticket for this event couldn’t be easier, simply call Martyn Dobson on 01623 847468, or 07717 805606 or reply by e-mail to [email protected].
