Come on you lot - we all want the Storey to keep open but here we are 2 weeks off the 2014 Curry Competition, the first event the pub has organised since the Save the Storey initiative was started, and we have just 4 people with their names down to make a curry!! Sorry but I cant see that this bodes at all well as regards the underlying level of real interest in keeping the pub open. So *please *prove me wrong and lets get positive as we have had some great Curry Nights and this is a golden opportunity for us to fly the flag again and make a real start on getting people back in the pub - both locals and also our friends and relations outside the village. All it needs is for a spiral of positive interest to start - we had it a few years ago with our Foody Thursday Nights and the stuff that followed - and it can happen again if we make the effort. To remind you at our Curry Night we need 10 people to each bring a curry and it can be whatever they want, even a takeaway if they like!!, as long as its enough to serve 10 people. Guests are then invited, in exchange for their £10 entrance fee, to sample each of the currys and to then vote for their favourite. The maker of the winning curry is then presented with the humungous Curry Cup. In this way, along with the pappadams, nans and pickles provided everyone has a fantasticly curryly night and, as a bonus, their tenners can result in up to nine hundred quid being split between Rainbows and the second charity chosen. Jon Clarke is the 2013 Curry Champion and he is keen to retain the title - but he is there to be toppled - so if you want a go, or want to book tickets, then let Phil at the pub know - or just click reply if its easier. (its a good excuse to go to the pub though!!) Its a cheap night - its a fun night and, in my opinion, its the sort of event that can not only bring us together but it can bring new people into the fold and ensure that our pub has a future. Remember - its only worth saving the pub if theres enough people to save it for! Lets go for it! Stuart
