‘Come to the border to prevent the gangs fleeing’ Women from the Peace Mothers Initiative in Antep and Van have called for people to join the border vigil on the Kobanê-Suruç border to prevent ISIS gang members in disarray fleeing across the border. Peace Mothers joined the vigil in the village of Mehser on the 103rd day of the resistance in Kobanê. Durê Kaygusuz spoke on behalf of the women who came from Antepo and Van, stressing the need to increase the numbers of people at the vigil. She added: “People should come here now as the gangs are trying to flee across the border as they have realised they cannot remain in Kobanê.” Gang border activities As operations launched by YPG and YPJ forces against ISIS gangs in recent days continue, the gangs’ activities at the border have increased. As they prepare to flee, gang members have continued to steal the vehicles of people from Kobanê in an area under the control of Turkish soldiers opposite the village of Merdesimbêl. Gang members have also gathered and sold the olives in the village of Aşmê, as they see anything that belongs to the people of Kobanê as ‘booty’. It is reported by those at the vigil that, as occurred in the village of Etmanek recently, when clashes intensify the ISIS members cross the border in order to escape. ANF - URFA 26.12.2014
