Coming From Where Im From! Theres UNITY beyond belief - its a learned and practiced way of life. Spoke with a friend this morning who attended the Carribean West Indian Day Parade n Bklyn, says he was Amazed at that fact that 1 Million people (predominately black) ALL in the same place at one time and NOT 1 incident and he was present during the entire Parade. I must, say with Everything I Absolutely love about CA. - the UNITY component is absent! Most longtime residemt of NY migrated from the southeast and were sharecroppers or children of such. My brothers, sister and cousins and so many others are from that generation. We had to go south every summer to assist our grandparents harvest for their land and winter meals. Work was hard and everybody worked, nobody was allowed to be lazy or too cute to work, you ass would not eat. Back n that day everyone shared regardless as to whether you could afford it or not. We could were not greedy we knew everything was limited. But we also knew as long as we were doing our part GOD would make a way! It is those values that were and still are instilled today - even the worst of the thugs back there still carry those values close to heart (although their are a few exceptions to every rule). I have also been amazed at the younger generation back there who are parents and how they have each others backs. The bros and sisters take care of not only their own but the children of others. Its also amazing to see youngsters everywhere you, go hustling (be it selling water, clothing, oils, jewlery, bbq and jerk chicken, handcrafted goods...and the list goes on and on). For me this is confirmation work ethics are still n tact everyone knows and excepts that concrete jungle aint no joke and aint nobody gonna drop nothing in your lap. Hell the summers are short and the winters are long - its to damn cold to sleep n the streets. With the number of ppl residing in NYC one would think resouces for senios, handicaps and people fallimg on hard times would be plentiful. SH.. theres just too too many folks n that city and even if it were nobody got the time to stand in line a month waiting to be served, theyd starve or freeze to death. I know this is a long story - Im just saying.......wish we as a people had more unity across the Nation! IMAGINE THAT!!! Although HATERS would probably wakeup and find themselves dead; theyd have no more Purpose in life. Make this a Terrific Tuesday.
