Coming back to Facebook has been an interesting experience for me. I am learning from those who are like-minded and those who are not. All have value and all have something to add. Perhaps the biggest benefit is that, despite the faults and failings, there are some pretty extraordinary people out there. I consider myself fortunate to have the opportunity to read their posts and gain from what they have to say. You make me want to be better AND show me that, with enough effort, focus, determination, and faith, I CAN be. I know that I can lay aside those things that hold me back and BECOME the man I am supposed to be. This has been my desire for quite sometime, but, until now, I have lacked the courage to take that first step that will naturally lead to the next and the next and the next. I looked up the word mediocre today and some of the roots of that modern word literally mean halfway up the mountain. Who trains and gears up to climb only halfway up a mountain?! What a waste of time, effort, and resources. There are no rewards for climbing halfway up a mountain, running half a race, or playing only half a game. I have grown weary of being mediocre and have decided that I am going to climb all the way up my spiritual, physical, and mental mountain, then the next, the next and the next starting right now. 58 years of sitting at base camp or journeying just a short distance has done nothing for me. I have grown content with my mediocrity and it disappoints me. I feel as if I am here to do so much more and I am going to find out what that is. The journey begins tonight.
