Coming home to Darwins after a trip is always like being welcomed home by family, but tonight was a little bittersweet, playing one last time with Timo Arthur. In February of 2013, I started playing with Timo Arthur, and together with Pete Maier, we formed a trio, playing a lot of gigs and having some fantastic times. Blues friends here in Atlanta convinced Timo and I to take the plunge and compete in the Atlanta Blues Challenge. We won and had the honor to represent Atlanta in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis this past February. In between, we cut a CD, with Jeff Baker graciously guesting with our trio. We got to pay it forward to WRFG at a fantastic fundraiser, and shared stages along the way with some of Atlantas true blues luminaries. Now, Timo is moving on to his next chapter, taking up residence in Memphis, Tennessee, and continuing to tour with Brandon Santini and Gracie Curran, among others. For all of you (tagged, plus any I forgot) who helped the Timo Arthur Trio on its way, thank you, and please join me in wishing him all the best. For my part, I am grateful for a fantastic experience.
