We want to explore our faith through an intentional journey through the Word of God….daily connecting with Him through a planned reading program and “Downloading His Truth” into our lives. 2015 Initiative is about each of us making the effort to be responsible servants and stewards by exploring our faith and examining our lives according to God’s standard....His Word. THREE AREAS OF EXPLORING OUR FAITH 1. Maturity – a growth process a. [Hebrews 6:19] b. Where am I? 2. Minister – Relationship that optimizes life-change a. 2 Timothy 3:11-17 b. Who am I? 3. Make a Difference – Utilizing God’s gifts for His glory a. I Peter 4:10 b. What am I doing? This journey and adventure is about each of us taking responsibility for developing our faith. It is important that each of us examine our lives according to God’s Word. We need a personal, honest face-to-face encounter with God. Too many times we are content to merely read God’s Word for the acquisition of knowledge rather than allowing God to reveal Himself to us in new fresh ways. God is interested in our acting on His Word, as He opens our eyes, so we can really see ourselves in the pages of Scripture. 2015 Initiative is an accountability process between you, God and one other “accountability” partner you have faith in as a mentor and friend. The Christian life is not simply a destination: it’s an ongoing journey that continues throughout our life. Ephesians 2:22 says “and in Him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit.” That is why reading through the Bible and coming face-to-face with God in His Word plays such a vital role in developing our faith and impacting our walk with God. Each of us needs a solid foundation of faith to help us through the issues of life so we can move on with God in spite of the daily grind Every week you will find in the church bulletin and on-line at the web-site [fortsmithfirst.org] a reading plan and a “Talking It Over With God” section. Remember, your goal is personal growth and life-change….moving you through · maturity, to · minister and to ultimately · making a difference for God’s glory. You’ll be motivated to stretch your truth, expand your involvement and make a difference through the influence and impact of your life on others. Bottom line, we want to build a healthy body of believers who are united and committed to living the Christ-like life according to God’s Word. As God’s Word says: “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the LORD is good.” I Peter 2:2-3 “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me…But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:12-14
