Commander’s Corner by Commander Pablo Palen It has been a great learning experience during my first few weeks as your Commander. Almost every day is filled with excitement. On a recent Wednesday during Legion Burger night, a Legionnaire was drunk enough to wheel out ranks of food from the Mess Hall and dump them on the parking lot. The next night at the Executive Committee meeting he was awarded the title of “kitchen manager.” No good deed goes unpunished. During the 2nd Annual Car Show, Boy Scout Troop 266 pitched in to help where needed. Thank you to the Boy Scouts. We have over 1,000 Legion Post #1 members and a lot of you live out of state, but there are too many who are staying away from their “home” on Yale Avenue. Please come by, put a quarter in the daily drawing and say “Hi.” Check out the new carpet. We have had volunteers plant and nurture just a wonderful vegetable garden on the southwest side of the building which was just a bleak little piece of land.
