Commentary from NWS: "This map shows the surface temperature anomalies across the northern hemisphere from March 1 through June 4. It is obvious the Twin Cities has been near the heart of the below normal readings, while above normal temperatures have reigned from around the north pole through eastern Canada and from northern Africa through southern Asia and China. For that same period of time, this year ranks as the 29th coolest on record for the Twin Cities."
