Commented: In reading the hate filled diatribe against Julia Gillard I see lots of comments like "worst PM", "incompetent government" etc... My problem is I never see any specific examples of exactly what it is that generates these comments. For most of us, this is the first minority federal government that we have experienced. The quantity of legislation and reforms that have been passed in such a hostile parliament would actually suggest that this has been an incredibly competent government with a leader pocessing nerves of steal and an incredibly strong character to negotiate with the cross benches. I then look to the alternative government led by Tony Abbott. I see a climate change policy that almost all economist have disparaged in comparison to the current policy that a weekend poll says 65% of the population actually support. I see a policy for maternity leave that pays more money the higher your earnings, as if the government was the employer rather than a safety net provider. I see some vague talk about a white paper for Northern Australia and finally I see an outright lie that they will "Stop the boats" knowing full well that this will just lead to more boats being scuttled and their occupants ending up in the water resulting in risky operations for our navy before being brought to Australia. If you hate our PM because of her voice, her looks, her hair colour or any other superficial reason then why not just have the courage to display how shallow your thinking really is and say so. Alternatively feel free to explain why having low unemployment, low interest rates, low inflation, low debt and the highest worldwide economic ratings actually adds up to an incompetent government.
