Committee to Elect Luis J. Rodriguez as Governor of CA 2014 Sandra -- As we embarked on this campaign journey, we knew it would be a challenging road. We have a small core team of dedicated organizers working for free and with heart. Our grassroots budget has been limiting but we have done our best to use it efficiently. The mainstream media has left us out so we have created our own through independent newspapers/magazines and social media. We have faced great adversities but we continue to stay true to our roots, a community oriented grassroots campaign for the people and by the people. One of the greatest adversities we have faced is the inability of many transformative organizations to endorse our campaign for fear of associating themselves because they are bound to their legal status. However, we have years of personal connections and working relationships with many of these organizations/groups since before this campaign was launched. These organizations/groups actively work towards providing solutions to the issues we are raising on our platform but as much as their work aligns with ours, we are also bound to the legalities of this electoral process. Recently we met with the LA Times seeking an endorsement. Luis, staying true to his politics, answered questions in an honest way. This may have cost us the endorsement but we stand by him and our commitment to serve no one else but the people of California. When asked by the LA times staffer, what he would do if the wealthy people decided to leave the state?, he answered Well, they have the privilege to leave. What about the people that cannot go anywhere? What about those that are suffering and cannot up and just leave? Those are the people I want to make sure we provide for. We, the Luis J. Rodriguez for Governor of California Campaign, are choosing to stay in California to help it thrive and we want to work with those who are choosing to do the same everyday. With this said, we are asking for solidarity all across California to unite on the essentials of a just and dignified society. From local/ small businesses, prominent community leaders, teachers and professors, newspapers, radio stations, radical groups, churches, collectives, youth groups, environmental justice groups, health care advocates, student groups, artists/arts advocates, LGBTQ groups, and anyone in between that framework and/or outside of it that has been working towards transforming our current social, political, economic and environmental realities. We are leading up to the last few weeks before this June 3rd primary election and we ask that the people of California take a stand for: 1. Ending poverty by providing practical and sustainable solutions for the 9 million people living in poverty in California. 2. Overhauling the bloated prison industrial monster that locks up our family members systemically and disproportionately. 3. Taking care of Mother Earth. To ensure that we stop it from being poisoned, respect its natural resources, and seek alternatives forms of reusable energy. 4. A full quality and resourced educational system that is accessible to all and does not burden our young people with debt. 5. Free and quality healthcare that actually cares for our peoples health. 6. Neighborhood arts policy that provides every community with arts, music, culture and creative economies. This is how you can contribute: 1. Visibility. Share this message with all your circles and networks. Lets build a strong web of connection, solidarity, and mutual respect. 2. Help us maximize our social media reach by sharing our posts, press releases, endorsements etc. and help our FB page grow in “likes.” 3. Help us pollinate our message.
