Commonwealth Secretary General, Kamalesh Sharma and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Aminu Wali, on Wednesday, met in Abuja over a wide-range of issues including the current security challenge facing the country. The discussion, the Nigerian Tribune gathered, centred on matters of interest to the country and the Commonwealth organisation. Speaking on the outcome of the meeting, Wali expressed appreciation over the roles Commonwealth has been playing and continue to play in the development of the country. He also expressed appreciation over the concern that Commonwealth had shown regarding the current security challenges facing the country as well as its preparedness to give the nation support in all areas In his response, the Commonwealth scribe noted that he and the members of the delegation were in the country to show solidarity in the face of the insecurity. He stated that the Commonwealth family would help to strengthen the existing machineries already put in place towards ensuring free and fair election in 2015 Sharma commended the Federal Government and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its efforts in delivering credible poll He said: Each organisation brings its own strength and our strength is much more in the direction of socio harmony, resolving grievances within the society, particularly as recommended by our own report in the area of women, youth, media and education. The important aspect of our engagement is that it is in harmony with the policy of our member states
