Community Calendar for Friday, April 18, 2014 Friday 4/18 •There is no school today for SOUTH WASCO COUNTY schools. •Exercise Classes today – Low Impact Cardio and Strength class at 10am at the Family Resource Center; Senior Fitness Class at 10:45 at the Senior Building and Functional Fitness at 12:10 in the Community Center Aerobics Room. •There is an enchilada fundraiser today from 11 to 2:00 at the agency longhouse. It’s a fundraiser for the Sean Brunoe Memorial Softball Tournament. •There is a lunch fundraiser today 11am to 2pm at the Community Center. Tribal Member Pamela Louis is raising money to build an art studio. She is selling homemade Pasta and Alfredo with Italian sausage and veggies. •Shaker Church Easter Weekends will start tonight with dinner at 6:00, services at 7, and the same on Saturday and Sunday services will be at 10am followed by dinner and an egg hunt. •Larry Little Jr. is the guest speaker at the Full Gospel Church tonight thru Sunday. Services begin at 7 nightly. •The Jefferson County Film Center will show “Blue Jasmine” tonight at 7:30. The film center is in the Rodriguez Annex behind the library in Madras. Saturday 4/19 •There is a Yard Sale tomorrow at 2234 Elliot Heights. They are selling lots of electronics, golf, camping, hunting and fishing gear, and household items. •There will be a memorial for Faron Lynn Kalama tomorrow at the Simnasho Longhouse with stonesetting at 9am at the Simnasho Cemetery. •The Muriel C. Suppah and Jackie Simtustus Memorial with namegiving ceremony is tomorrow. The memorial and namegiving will be at the Simnasho Longhouse beginning at 9am with Washaat. •The Memorial for Ella Jane Jim will be tomorrow at 10am at the Simnasho Longhouse. Sunday 4/20 •Sunrise Services will be held on Easter Sunday at 7am at the water tower past Benny Hill. SELF-CARE CLASSES The Community Health Education Team will offer “Your Choice for Change” self care classes beginning April 24th. It will be held weekly at noon for six weeks. Lunch will be provided to all who participate. You can find out more by calling Judy Charley at 541-553-2211. TRADING AT THE RIVER Registration Is OPEN for the 12th annual Trading at the River 2014 - May 27th thru the 29th at Lewis and Clark College in Portland. Trading at the River, brings together Native-owned businesses, social entrepreneurs and leaders in Native American business and economic development initiatives in a continued effort to grow Indigenous economies nationally and strengthen cultures and communities.
